It has a color range of black, granite blue and powder grey. It has a 1.8 power screen and is sunlight readable. It displays the entire green course picture as well. It is water-resistant to 5 ATM. Saying of this reminds of the hazards and doglegs- it notifies about the creeks, lakes, ponds, etc. nearby.
Garmin S10 shows the completed hole and next hole making it easier to reach out for it. It notifies the yardages to the front, back and middle of the hazards. It is also available as a clip-on.
It has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 12 hours in the GPS Mode and as a normal watch, it can go up to 3 to 4 weeks. 1 CR2 batteries required to run the watch which is included in the package.
It recharges in 8 to 12 hours precisely rather than 4 hours as it mentions.
Garmin watches as they are known for its advanced GPS system-
- They have over 41,000 worldwide courses preloaded which allows it to access the course you are playing on automatically.
- Its automatic transition after completing a hole to the next hole, yardages to the front, back, and middle of the greens highlights some of its GPS supported points.
- You score a hole; it keeps the score in record, apart from this it keeps the track of the number of rounds, total distance played, and time as well.
- Your scorecards are duly uploaded to the Garmin express to keep a record of your rounds.
- The Approach s10 has splendid features and the recorded and updated games information is one of the useful features golfers would love. It takes away all the tedious paper recording work and has greater accuracy.
- It is waterproof up to 5ATM.
- It has a battery life of 4 hours on GPS mode and up to 3.5 weeks as a normal watch.
- It has a sleek design weighing 36 grams and a good fitting for all sizes wrists.
It is said to be not a very high maintenance watch. The proper timely charging is definitely a must but overcharging it can damage the battery. It is waterproof to 5ATM as mentioned.
With a tough glass and a perfect fitting wrist band, it does not have a risk of falling off your wrist. So worry not! This watch will not disappoint your monetary expectations.
It has a warranty period of one year. Users have been noticed to be taking an extended warranty and it is also replaceable if any parts are found damaged or due to non-functioning of the watch.
PROs & CONs
There are so many good things about the Garmin S20 Golf watch, but there are many things that this smartwatch lacks and these are some of the things that we hate about this smartwatch. And without mentioning the problems our Garmin S10 Review is incomplete.
- It has no complicated features
- All its features work well and as per the instructions mentioned in the manual
- Very easy to use
- Fits in the budget as per its features
- Sunlight readable
- Lightweight & Sleek design
- No touch screen
- No Bluetooth
- Rests awkwardly on the wrist
- GPS can be spotty on cloudy days
- LOW Screen resolution
- Battery is said to charge in 4 hours but takes 8 to 12 hours
After all this, you can conclude that this choice of the smartwatch is definitely a great one! Now you might probably raise some common questions in your mind. Well, we have answers for them as well. If you are a non-golfer and wish to use this watch, then yes, to satisfy your wish to have this watch it definitely doesn’t matter for you to be a golfer to wear this watch.
When it comes to battery replacements and watch reparability, Garmin uses complex parts, tools and requires a lot of knowledge to work on it. It is not user repairable and due to the built-in lithium-ion battery, it is irreplaceable.
The model S10 is smaller than the S20 model. It comes with a manual and a charging cable. The charging cord is sold separately. Its band is adjustable from small to average and in fact broader wrist as well. The bands can be changed by removing the screws from specific screwdrivers that are available on amazon. It doesn’t require a phone as well and it works completely independently.
The alternative to Approach S10 can be S20 which is slightly bigger in dimensions. If I say of Fitbit it definitely provides its best as a fitness tracker and at the same time, apple provides its best as a smartwatch.
In the case of Approach S10, Garmin S20 can be a better alternative if you are looking for a model slightly bigger in size with its features remaining almost the same. We made a detailed Garmin S10 vs S20 article, you can read that as well if you want to see the differences between these two.
Perhaps moving ahead I would rate this 4.1/5 stars. It has its own specialized features which makes it competitive with fitness tracking watches and smartwatches. Its GPS features are commendable and put this watch into a higher recommendation.
A few drawbacks would include the Bluetooth feature that is unavailable and it cannot store music. The battery life is good but not well enough for a golfer as per reviews. Not updating it can make it lag and issues in bug fixes can be experienced.
Although there are these few complaints you would see across the customer reviews but considering the features and the level of excellence it holds, this watch is definitely considered worthy enough.
